What local families say about the TJ Scott experience
Organising a Funeral
We know from experience that it’s the little things that can make a funeral memorable and special. You might be surprised how different funerals can be and what options they can include. At TJ Scott & Son we welcome the chance to create personalised services. We are continually inspired by the ideas clients bring to us.
If you don’t know where to start, we are able to offer suggestions – from distinctive music to ways to involve the grandchildren. From placing items on the casket during the service, to how you would like to finish the service with a difference.
AFDA Immediate Past National President
TJ Scott & Son Director Kelly Scott proudly served as National President of the Australian Funeral Directors Association (now Funerals Australia) from 2023–2025.
Her appointment created history as part of the very first father–daughter team to be elected to the presidential role, following in her father John Scott’s footsteps. Reflecting on her time in office, Kelly said:
“You never come into a role like this without an understanding of what, and most importantly, who, has come before. I was honoured to lead the association on the strong foundation built through the dedication of so many members who have worked tirelessly to promote professional standards across our profession and to increase awareness of the value of a farewell—whatever form that may take.”
Members of Funerals Australia want every family to have a positive and informed experience when arranging a funeral. Choosing a Funerals Australia Member means choosing a funeral director who upholds a strict code of ethics and conduct, complies with PEV standards (premises, vehicles and equipment), and completes regular professional development.
Funerals are too important to leave to just anyone, and Kelly is very proud to have played a part in strengthening the standards and resources that safeguard families and uphold the trust of our communities. These same values continue to guide the team at T J Scott & Son every day, as we care for families across the Macedon Ranges.
Planning Ahead
Planning ahead makes sense. It’s a way of thinking about your life and providing an opportunity for the people in your life to know what’s
important to you.
TJ Scott & Son is a family business with over 75 years experience helping other families through funeral planning.
Many people find it helpful to think about funeral arrangements like other planned life activities, such as selling your home or retirement. Just like those financial and emotional decisions, there is no ‘one size fits all’ option. You have to think about what’s important for you and for your family.
